2020 Finish Line

12/31/2020

2020 has been a difficult year with the Covid-19 global pandemic and the standard sucker punches life routinely throws at you. However, if you’re reading this I want you to know something... you’re a survivor. There’s a reason why you’re still here; you have a purpose to fulfill. As you cross the 2020 finish line I want you to think about your life’s mission. What drives you? What wakes you up in the morning? Are you staying loyal to your dreams?

Personally, 2020 is the year Roadrunner Zambia came to life and I’m proud of it. I had doubts, fears and insecurities but I overcame them with the spirit of courage. I want to help you find that within yourself because I truly believe that ‘the highest human act is to inspire’. You may not be passionate about fitness or blogging🤷🏾‍♂️but you’re passionate about something -- let the world know. You have value, your ideas💡are worth something and you can make a difference.

On the face of things, some of you may think I’m just a madman obsessed with fitness, I’m not. My mission at it’s core is to help you help yourself, whether you run or not. Perhaps I can guide you on how to eat better for superior health or maybe I’ll just inspire you to put yourself out there, start doing your own thing on various platforms and complete your own designated marathon. The truth is I’m a recovering introvert looking to assist other ‘turtles’ come out of their shell. My message to you is 'be bold and dare to dream'. Less impressive people have done big things simply because they had the courage to start. Start where you are with what you have. Don’t wait.

On your next lap in 2021 I want you to do more than survive, I want you to thrive!

Here’s how to transition from surviving to thriving in 2021:
  • Be fearless and don't be afraid to take risks. If you want something jump right into it head first. Somebody once said that 'a dream is God's proof to you that it's (the thing you want) yours already.' I believe that. You should too. Prayer and work is still undefeated so fear nothing in your endeavors
  • Wake up early. It’s up to you to change your situation so wake up and attack the day. Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day. The difference between those that are successful and those that aren’t is how you use yours. If you insist on excessive sleep 😴you’ll die a dreamer
  • Incorporate daily exercise into your routine🏃🏿‍♂️🏃🏾‍♀️. You don’t like how you look? Then get moving. Everyday. Until the compliments follow you and you look in the mirror and see something that pleases you. Run, walk, crawl - it doesn’t matter what you do, it just matters that you do something. Target at least 30 minutes of purposeful activity everyday
  • Eat 3 servings of varied fruit🍎🍌🍉& 4 servings of various green leafy vegetables 🥬🥦🥗🥦everyday as a baseline. An easy way to implement this suggestion is to eat 2 servings of vegetables with lunch and supper while ensuring that you also eat one helping of fruit at each meal sitting (breakfast, lunch, supper). Prioritize taking care of your body so you fully get to thrive. Some of you insist on a particular kind fuel for your car (i.e. low sulphur diesel) and religiously service your cars when they fall due but you don’t have the same level of meticulousness when it comes to your ultimate asset; your body. You need to get serious about what you put in your mouth
  • Meditate🧘🏾‍♂️🧘🏾‍♀️. Many people like to complicate this process but it’s very simple. At it’s core, meditation is the intentional focus on something (could be your breathing or a particular emotion such as empathy) in order to calm your mind and give it a break from the thought-chaos that typically occurs. This practice helps with stress management and will allow you to better cope with some of life’s unpleasant surprises. Do this for at least 15 minutes a day
  • Read everyday📚. You made it this far so reading isn’t really an issue for you. What a relief! I need you to read more and learn more about the things you want, the people you admire (autobiographies) while ensuring that you continue to educate yourself. A chapter a day is a reasonable goal for a start

Don’t tell me that you don’t have time to implement these things because people far busier than you get it done and it shows. Don't get left behind.
